OUR HISTORY
BULLYING PREVENTION - COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our organization has a rich and distinctive history. I'm Young And Empowered, Inc., initially began as a social media-based bullying prevention, mental health awareness and human service organization in 2019 called Yes You Matter.
Our anti-bullying campaigns reached many schools and youth groups locally and across the country. In June of that year, we were granted our 501(c)3 Nonprofit status, and I'm Young And Empowered, Inc., was created.
We next established a location in the North Las Vegas area, providing a monthly food pantry and clothing closet to address the need for more resources for low income families.
COVID-19 IMPACTS & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
When the Covid-19 pandemic impacted our nation and community, we had to adapt quickly and, with the help of additional funding and hiring a full time accountant, we established a temporary "Self-Sufficiency Grant" program.
Over the course of three years, the Self-Sufficiency Grant program provided expanded outreach services to the broader community, including: rent/utility assistance, medical related payment assistance, food assistance and youth scholarships to keep children engaged in activities while schools were shuttered in the Las Vegas community.
Also, through a $48,000 grant from the Albertsons Foundation we were able to establish a mobile food pantry to provide delivery for low income households without adequate transportation or the means to providing nutritious food for their family.
PRESENT - COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our focus has since shifted back to working exclusively as an all volunteer organization, providing modest seasonal outreach programs for low income residents with children in the Las Vegas community.
We remain dedicated to our roots and anti-bullying message, "I Matter! You Matter! Stop Bullying!™," and the belief that everyone matters, "Yes You Matter".
